In November, United Health Foundation convened 13 current Foundation grant partners in Washington, D.C., for an all-day thought leadership event focused on the role of community health workers in the health care system.
During the event, UnitedHealth Group leaders led interactive discussions with the grant partners focused on solving local health care challenges through innovative projects funded by United Health Foundation. Partners such as Community Health Council of Wyandotte County, Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance, and Partnership for Strong Communities talked about ways to work together to combat homelessness and provide resources for recently housed individuals. Other partners, like the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, shared how they're working to help build the 21st century health workforce and provide culturally competent care to underserved neighborhoods.
