Supplier Engagement
Creating opportunities and supporting engagement with suppliers and their communities
The big picture: Small business engagement in our sourcing and supply chain helps UnitedHealth Group access unique insights, lower costs and improve quality in the health care system. We aim to engage with and support small businesses to expand our economic impact in the communities we serve.
Between the lines: Our focus on building strong relationships with our small business partners drives innovation, opens new markets, enhances social impact and mitigates operational risks. We continue to make significant progress in key areas:
- Leveraging our Supplier Mentorship Program to provide educational resources for small businesses, which helps them manage higher volumes, achieve critical business goals and close care gaps in their communities.
- Participating in external events and outreach activities — including pitch competitions, procurement councils, opportunity exchanges and panel discussions — connecting with partners to help expand their scope and impact.
- Engaging more often with employees, global teams and internal groups across the UnitedHealth Group enterprise to advance growth with small businesses.
The bottom line: The relationships we build with small businesses and communities help foster economic growth and tap into unique offerings and insights that strengthen our supply chain.
