For the 11th consecutive year, Points of Light named UnitedHealth Group one of the 50 most community-minded companies in America based on its annual Civic 50 survey.
Details: Since 2012, the Civic 50 has annually recognized companies for civic engagement and work to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.
- 2023 also marks the third consecutive year UnitedHealth Group was recognized as the leader in the health care sector.

Our commitments also included:
A $100 million commitment over 10 years to increase diversity in the health workforce and advance health equity, furthering our efforts to eliminate health disparities. Through philanthropic programs and partnerships, funding from the United Health Foundation will provide scholarships and support to 10,000 people to build a more diverse health workforce prepared to serve the needs of underserved communities.
$8 million in new commitments to address youth behavioral health. For example, a three-year, $3 million partnership with Active Minds to help launch a pilot program in 50 school districts to better serve youth mental health needs at the middle school level for the first time. We are also investing in programs in Minnesota and North Carolina.
UnitedHealth Group also supports employees’ desires and efforts to give back to the communities where they live and work, across the nation and around the world. In 2022, through the Optum Pro Bono Program, employees supported more than 20 pro bono projects, delivered over $2 million in estimated financial impact to our partner organizations and touched over 1.2 million lives through volunteerism.
